Recently i bought a Yaesu FT-7800 for mobile use. One of the main reasons for buying this specific piece of hardware was, one, it’s relatively cheap for a 2 band transceiver and two, the system has a option to split the display from the rest of the unit making it ideal for car usage.

The HAM Operator who sold me the Yaesu FT-7800 was a really friendly guy who’d happily gave me some stuff to create my own remote bracket and extension cord for the screen to be placed in the front of my car. I’m so happy to see HAM operators beeing the most friendly people around, they always want to help you get more experienced in the hobby of beeing a radio amateur.
